Vicky flies the 40 flag for Amari Plastics at the Challenge Rimini Triathlon

Specialist Engineering Plastics’ long serving team member Vicky Clarke completed the gruelling ETU Challenge Rimini European Middle Distance Triathlon Championships in Italy as part of Team GB in May 2015, with sponsorship from her employer as part of Amari Plastics’ 40th Anniversary celebrations.

“Vicky has played an important role in our team for many years and in 2015 she has reached an important milestone: her 40th birthday – making her exactly as old as Amari Plastics! …so when she approached us with the idea of sponsorship in the Challenge Rimini Triathlon, it was a no-brainer”, said Ben Senior, Specialist Engineering Plastics Centre Manager.

Vicky works at SEP’s headquarters in Grantham, Lincolnshire where she is responsible for administration and inventory. She said: “Balancing my work commitments at Specialist Engineering Plastics with a demanding training routine to qualify for the race, as well as family duties has been challenging, but it’s all paid off. The Challenge Rimini event was fantastic. Competing as part of Team GB was a hugely rewarding experience, so big thanks to Ben and Amari Plastics for agreeing to sponsor me.”

Centred around the fashionable Adriatic coastal resort of Rimini, the Challenge Rimini Triathlon attracts competitors of all ages from all over Europe, and was the ETU European Middle Distance Championships. The event comprises three stages which run consecutively: A 1.9km swim; a 90km bike ride; and a 21.1km run.

Ben Senior summed up: “We’re delighted to have been able to help Vicky to take part in this great event, flying the flag for Specialist Engineering Plastics and our parent company Amari Plastics in this, our 40th year. The products we supply are all about high performance, strength, resistance to demanding environments and durability – and Vicky has proved that our employees aspire to the same qualities!”
